Quite cool.

As far as indie neoclassical shooter devs go, C2Matrix may be my favorite. They are great when it comes to enemy and bullet patterns, and there is always a nice twist to the gameplay. You are given a recharging laser blast and guns that increase in power with your combo count. The best addition are the men on the ground that you rescue, "Choplifter"-style. Finding the right time to land without taking hits brings in a fantastic new layer of strategy heretofore absent from the vertical shooter genre. Very nice.

This title REALLY is for hardcore gamers only. Luxuries such as credits are not provided, meaning you probably wont finish the game. Levels can be replayed once theyve been beaten in the regular mode, which is nearly pointless seeing as there are no individual stage leaderboards. Without the ability to continue or select stages from which to start, most players will give up from frustration. Its a shame, as the design, mechanics, and scoring are top-notch.
